More Invasive Species To Deal With

As if we don’t already have enough of them, preliminary data from the U.S. Geological Survey reveals that hurricanes Helene and Milton may have spread over 200 invasive species to Florida through floodwaters. They pose environmental, economic, and health risks. The giant applesnail and Asian swamp eel can carry parasites. Cuban treefrogs and alligatorweed may also have been carried to new areas. These species could disrupt ecosystems and impact public health across the state.
