Brevard County deputies were forced into a deadly shooting early Tuesday in Viera after confronting an armed man who had been making threats. Deputies responded to a home on Egret Lake Way following a 911 call from the man’s family. After a standoff, the man, who had earlier threatened a woman with a knife, stepped outside holding a gun and pointed it at deputies. In response, deputies fired. The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. No deputies were injured.
