A Volusia County man will not face charges after claiming self-defense in the fatal shooting of a neighbor during a tree-trimming dispute. 78 year old Edward Druzolowski confronted Brian Ford, who was cutting branches from Druzolowski’s tree in September 2023. Witnesses described Ford as aggressive, threatening to harm Druzolowski with a chainsaw. The court ruled that Druzolowski acted within Florida’s Stand Your Ground law, citing Ford’s behavior, size, and reputation. Charges of second-degree murder were dismissed after the state failed to overcome the self-defense claim.
