Repair work is underway on the County Road 512 washout in Fellsmere to fix the damage caused by Hurricane Milton that left a 10-mile stretch of the road impassable. Crews began work on December 19th, replacing a nearly century-old broken pipe with two new 60-inch pipes. The $1 million project, funded by a FEMA grant, is expected to finish by mid-January, just in time for the Frog Leg Festival on January 16th. Until repairs are complete, drivers must detour 23 miles east via Interstate 95. Barricades remain in place near the washout site.
