Pensacola has shattered Florida’s 130-year-old snowfall record. As of about 5:30 local time there last evening, the National Weather Service reported 5 inches of snow at the airport, surpassing the previous 3-inch record set in 1895. With snow still falling, totals in some areas later reached up to 7.5 inches before tapering off later last night. Strong winds with gusts of 30 mph created near-blizzard conditions. The full snowfall total will be confirmed once official measurements are reported today.
