Orlando Health announced on Thursday, that it will close Rockledge Hospital on April 22, citing the facility’s deteriorating condition and high repair costs. The 298-bed hospital, which Orlando Health just acquired last October, will be demolished, and the land sold for redevelopment. Orlando Health plans to build a new hospital in Brevard County, though no timeline or location has been set. Employees at the Rockledge hospital will be offered positions at other Orlando Health locations. Four local outpatient facilities will also close as part of the decision.
