Cocoa Beach has now raised fees for short-term vacation rentals. The increase is said to be in response to enforcement challenges and community concerns. The new fees nearly triple the previous costs. They now require rental operators to pay $2,500 for the initial application and $1,500 annually for single-family homes. The city hopes the increase will fund enforcement staff to tackle unregistered rentals, which cost the city over $700,000 annually in lost revenue.
