A new effort is underway in Florida to create a statewide animal abuser registry, inspired by “Molly’s Law” in Marion County. Lilly Baron, who adopted a dog named Molly which had been severely beaten and stabbed, champions the law to educate the public on the dangers of animal abuse. Baron is now pushing for Senate Bill 494, which would create a statewide registry managed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, similar to the sex offender database. The bill is gaining momentum as lawmakers continue their session.
