A former Brevard County sheriff’s correction officer has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 72-year-old Jessie Kirk in Titusville. Kirk, a well-known real estate business owner, was reported missing on March 4. Her body was found near the Haulover Canal. David Barber was later linked to the crime after being found with burn marks on his arm and in possession of her vehicle. Barber now also faces additional charges including arson, theft, and tampering with evidence. He is now being held behind bars where he used to work on the other side of those bars… in the Brevard County Jail.
