Renewed Calls For Term Limits

Florida lawmakers are pushing for term limits to be added to the state constitution for county commissioners and school board members. A new proposal aims to cap terms at eight years for both groups, with school board limits already in place from a 2023 law. While some oppose the statewide mandate, arguing counties should have the option, the proposals passed a committee vote and could appear on the 2026 ballot if approved. If passed, the amendments would need 60% voter approval to take effect.
