Floyd “Sonny” Tillman, who turned a small Gainesville barbecue restaurant into the regional chain Sonny’s BBQ, has died at 96. Tillman passed away peacefully surrounded by family on the evening of Dec. 7th according to an announcement by his family on social media. Sonny’s BBQ now operates multiple locations across eight Southern states.
