Jeff Abramowski, a 64 year old Melbourne man, was officially cleared Monday when State Attorney Will Scheiner announced murder charges against him would be dropped. Abramowski spent 23 years in prison for the 2002 killing of 78 year old Cortney Crandall. New DNA evidence however, showed the DNA on the murder weapons excluded Abramowski. Scheiner cited the loss of witnesses and inability to retest evidence with current methods as reasons not to retry the case.
