A Volusia County deputy is alive after his body-worn camera stopped a bullet during a shootout in Deltona. Investigators say the deputy was shot in the leg and chest after arriving at a home where an armed suspect opened fire. The deputy returned fire and subdued the suspect before backup arrived. Doctors later determined the bullet aimed at his chest was deflected by the body camera and ricocheted into his shoulder. The suspect is in custody facing multiple charges, and the deputy is expected to make a full recovery.
