Brevard Approves $13 Million Muck Dredging Plan for Grand Canal Near Satellite Beach

Brevard County commissioners approved spending $13 million to continue muck dredging in the Grand Canal, part of a $24 million effort to restore the Indian River Lagoon. The project aims to remove 67,300 cubic yards of muck by 2028, improving water quality and marine habitats. The county rejected a costlier pipeline option and will now seek bids from landowners to manage muck disposal sites.
