Brevard Zoo is returning nearly 20 rehabilitated black bears to Florida forests after a record year of orphaned cub rescues. Most cubs arrived alone after their mothers were killed by vehicles and were carefully rehabilitated to remain wild. By release, the bears weigh 100 to 150 pounds, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will oversee their return to the wild.
