Melbourne Police are searching for 24 year old Eric Jordon Jerry, who escaped from custody after an altercation with officers at a local hospital. Police say Jerry was arrested without incident Wednesday on an outstanding warrant but complained of a medical issue while being transported to the Brevard County Jail. Officers diverted to Orlando Health on North Wickham Road, where Jerry allegedly battered officers while being removed from the vehicle, slipped his handcuffs, and ran into nearby woods. A large search using canine teams, drones, and aviation units failed to locate him. Jerry faces charges including escape, battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting with and without violence.
