Five elementary and middle schools in Brevard County earned spots in Florida’s top 50, according to U.S. News & World Report. Freedom 7 Elementary in Cocoa Beach led the county at No. 13, while West Shore Jr./Sr. High in Melbourne ranked No. 6 among middle schools. Edgewood Jr./Sr. High in Merritt Island came in at No. 8, with Manatee Elementary in Viera and West Melbourne Elementary at Nos. 46 and 48. Rankings were based on state math and reading scores.
