37 year old Douglas Meyer, a former Volusia County deputy, was arrested Sunday on a charge of organized scheme to defraud. Authorities say Meyer wrote himself bad checks between credit unions and even tried to access funds while in uniform. Meyer worked for the sheriff’s office from 2020 to 2024 and briefly again this year before resigning in August.
