A company is setting up a manufacturing facility at Kennedy Space Center to build expandable space habitats, aiming to hire 30 to 50 workers by mid-2026. Plans by Max Space call for a small-scale demonstration mission on a SpaceX Falcon 9 in 2027, with its full-sized Thunderbird Station capable of hosting up to eight astronauts in low Earth orbit as soon as 2029. Max Space says its Kevlar-like materials allow habitats to be packed for launch and expanded in orbit, supporting future missions to the moon and Mars.
