Melbourne Beach is split over FDOT’s plan to add flashing pedestrian beacons on A1A to improve safety after two recent pedestrian deaths. Some residents say the beacons are needed, while others feel the somewhat rural area doesn’t warrant the changes. FDOT will hold a public meeting July 24 at the Nancy Higgs Community Center to gather input.
