Melbourne police and the Florida Highway Patrol teamed up Wednesday, for a commercial vehicle enforcement detail called Operation Overload along U.S. 1 and Lake Washington Road. Officers focused on trucks hauling unsecured or unsafe loads and other traffic violations. Police conducted eight commercial vehicle inspections, including weight checks, and issued six citations. One driver was flagged on the state hot list for unpaid fines totaling more than six thousand dollars.
