A St. Lucie County sheriff’s deputy was arrested in Sebastian after police say he led officers on a high-speed chase while driving drunk. Arthur Robert Alfaro was taken into custody early Sunday after speeds topped 100 miles per hour before the pursuit was called off for safety. Police later stopped the vehicle, and say Alfaro’s blood-alcohol levels were recorded above the legal limit. The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office says Alfaro has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the case.
