Brevard County beaches from Melbourne to Satellite Beach are seeing a rare increase in nine-armed sea stars washing ashore. Scientists aren’t sure what’s causing the surge but advise gently returning the live creatures to the water. Possible causes they say, include low oxygen levels or nearby dredging.
