Cocoa Rent Ordinance Under Consideration

With housing costs soaring, the city of Cocoa is considering an ordinance that would give renters more notice from landlords when rent increases loom. If it becomes law, Cocoa will require landlords to provide a 60-day written notice of a rental increase of more than 5% on an annual lease and a 30-day notice on a monthly lease. Nothing final yet… The proposed ordinance is still being discussed. City officials say most likely the earliest they can hold a workshop on the proposal would be in July.
