A detective in Seminole County was arrested Thursday after being accused of tipping off suspects about undercover investigations. Jose Tirado has been a detective with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children Unit since 2015. His arrest yesterday came after other officers learned that he had covertly warned suspects who were planning to travel to meet minors for sex. Those “minors” were actually other detectives using undercover fake identities, so no real children were involved. The sheriff’s office says Tirado’s warnings allowed suspects to avoid arrest and potentially put other detectives in harm’s way.
