15 Arrested For Illegally Harvesting Saw Palmetto Berries

Sebastian Police, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office combined efforts to arrest 15 people and seized hundreds of pounds of saw palmetto berries. Saw Palmetto berries are prized for their health properties and are marketed as a natural supplement. They can also be used as a dietary aid for urinary symptoms linked to an enlarged prostate, migraines, and hair thinning. But illegal harvesting has resulted in trespassing, theft, and property damage.
