Rabies Alert Sounded

The Florida Department of Health has issued a rabies alert for Osceola County after a cat tested positive for the virus on July 8. The alert will remain in effect for 60 days. Residents and visitors are advised to avoid contact with wild animals such as raccoons and bats, which are known carriers of rabies. The Department of Health recommends keeping pets up-to-date on vaccinations and contacting Osceola Animal Services if a pet is bitten. For more details, call 407-343-2000.
