Titusville Council Agrees To Settlement

The Titusville City Council has approved a $70,000 settlement to resolve a lawsuit involving a boy who became paralyzed after paddle boarding near a city sewage spill in 2020. The boy, who was exposed to contaminated water in the Indian River Lagoon, developed a severe bacterial infection leading to his paralysis. The settlement aims to avoid further litigation despite challenges in proving the sewage was the direct cause. The settlement comes after the boy’s family had previously received a $200,000 fine from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for the sewage incident.
