A 9-year-old Cocoa student was sent home Monday and told to walk two miles alone across State Road 520 after his mother was late picking him up. The boy usually gets a ride, and his mother says she had notified the school she would be picking him up. Brevard Public Schools said paperwork was missing, and officials have since apologized. The family says the situation has been resolved.
