Governor Ron DeSantis has awarded a 2.5 million dollar state grant to Melbourne Orlando International Airport to expand its maintenance, repair and overhaul apron. State officials say the project is expected to bring about 500 new jobs with average salaries ranging from 75 to 85 thousand dollars. The funding is part of a larger 11 million dollar infrastructure upgrade aimed at boosting commercial and military aircraft maintenance on the Space Coast. Airport officials say engineering and permitting are underway, with construction timing dependent on additional private investment.
