Orange County deputies say a man attacked a Chinese restaurant owner and damaged the kitchen after claiming he was trying to stop a new strain of COVID-19. Investigators say Richard Jarvis entered Pearl’s Chinese Restaurant with a shovel, caused thousands of dollars in damage, and struck the owner. Deputies say Jarvis told them he believed Chinese restaurants planned to release a new virus. He is jailed on charges including aggravated battery, assault, and burglary.
