Hurricane Erin Offshore But Brings High Surf, Rip Currents To Brevard

Hurricane Erin, a Category 4 storm, will remain about 450 miles east of Cape Canaveral tonight but will produce 6-9 foot nearshore waves and up to 14 feet offshore. The National Weather Service says a high rip current risk remains through Thursday. Beachgoers are being warned to avoid the water, as minor beach and dune erosion is possible during peak swells Wednesday.
