The Florida Senate has passed a bill allowing businesses to round cash purchases up or down to the nearest nickel as pennies disappear from circulation. Under the plan, totals ending in one, two, six or seven cents would round down, while three, four, eight or nine cents would round up. The change would not affect card or electronic payments. The measure now heads to the Florida House.
