Florida Reports Three New Flesh-eating Bacteria Cases

Florida health officials confirm three new cases of Vibrio vulnificus, bringing the statewide total to 23 cases and five deaths in 2025. Two cases were reported in Broward County and one in Volusia County. The bacteria, found in warm brackish water, can infect through open wounds or raw seafood. Residents, especially those with weakened immune systems, are urged to avoid exposure and seek medical attention immediately if symptoms develop.
