A developer from the Tampa Bay area has withdrawn a plan to build a 186 unit apartment complex just off US-192. Kanes Furniture LLC of Pinellas Park, had planned to rezone about twelve and a half wooded acres next to the Kanes Furniture Store in West Melbourne, for construction of (6) three story apartment buildings. That property is currently zoned for construction of up to 58 homes. If it had been approved, the rezoning would have allowed 128 more residences… a big sticking point for residents of nearby June Park who successfully fought against it… saying such a high-density housing project would not fit well with their peaceful neighborhood.
