In an effort to fight what they see as a labor shortage, Brevard Public Schools will begin a policy including a $15 minimum wage effective July 1st. While state law requires the district to increase the minimum wage starting October 1st, at their meeting this week, the school board made the decision to begin the pay increase early. While they say it could take some time… as in months… to get all the affected employees in the system coded for the new pay scale, it will begin on July 1st, and all employees will receive the new minimum salaries starting then, with the increases applied retroactively to July 1st.
