Pretrial Release Revoked

Pretrial release has been revoked for Titusville foster mother who is accused of killing 4 year old Joy King-Castro, who was discovered unconscious in her bathtub. Prosecutors say 42 year old Lakeisha Mitchell violated the terms of her pretrial release, so now she is back behind bars in the Brevard County Jail. Mitchell was charged with first-degree murder. She pled not guilty and was released on bond last December. Her release conditions specified that she was not to travel anywhere outside of work, church, medical or essential activities. Prosecutors however, showed evidence that she had violated the 24-hour curfew more than 40 times between last December 16th and June 17th of this year. They say her electronic monitoring device shows she was at private residences, shopping centers, retail stores and restaurants in Brevard County and Orlando. Incredibly, Mitchell was hired as a security guard assigned to screen visitors at the Titusville Courthouse, but when employees and Brevard County Sheriff’s deputies recognized her, she gave a false date of birth and was “evasive” about her criminal case. Prosecutors also say she made more than 100 calls, messages and video calls with inmates. She will now remain in custody while awaiting trial, but no trial date has yet been set.
