White Rhino Shot At Central Florida Safari Park

At Wild Florida Drive-Thru Safari Park near Kenansville, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission has wrapped up an investigation into an incident involving a 2,000 pound white rhinoceros that was shot and killed last September after it escaped its enclosure. They say the 3-year-old white rhino had just arrived at Wild Florida the day before and was acting aggressively. Park officials say they did everything they could to not have to kill the animal, but they were left with no choice out of concerns for the safety of those in the area. Florida Fish and Wildlife determined there was no state law violated.
