Tropical Storm Updates Now Issued Daily

Although Hurricane Season doesn’t officially begin until June 1st, daily tropical updates from the National Hurricane Center began on Sunday… two weeks ahead of the official start of hurricane season. The change took effect last year, following a seven-year stretch of pre-season storms. While there have been some discussions about actually moving the start of hurricane season up two weeks, so far that hasn’t happened. On a positive note, most often any pre-season and early-season tropical systems are weak. Now is the time to begin to prepare though, because hurricane frequency generally tends to increase during the mid-summer months… as does the intensity of any storms.
