Updated Dress Code For Brevard Students

When students return to the classrooms after summer break here in Brevard County, they will be met by a new dress code. The updated district-wide dress code passed unanimously at the school board meeting this week, and it is aimed at seeing to it that students choose what board members say is “acceptable attire.” More specifically, it describes quite precisely what is NOT acceptable. The list of banned attire includes cat ears, dog collars and tails… or any attire that emulates “non-human characteristics.” That stipulation that was added after a student survey showed that there were concerns about “furries”… students who wear clothing or accessories to mimic animals.
