2nd Arrest Made In Merritt Island Puppy Mill Investigation

The investigation into that Merritt Island puppy mill is expanding, and now 44 year old Richard Cleveland has been arrested. Cleveland was taken into custody on Monday, following his wife Elisabeth’s recent arrest on animal cruelty charges. The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office reports that Richard Cleveland faces 97 counts of aggravated animal cruelty and 38 counts of unlawful confinement. The couple is accused of running a puppy mill on three properties, where 59 dogs and three cats were rescued from deplorable conditions. Richard Cleveland is behind bars, with his bond set at $261,500.
