Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 95 in West Melbourne that occurred early Tuesday. A 37-year-old Melbourne man driving a 2019 Ford Mustang collided with a tractor trailer near mile marker 180 around 9 a.m. The Mustang slid under the trailer, resulting in the driver’s death at the scene. The identity of the deceased driver has not been released. The 53-year-old driver of the big rig was unharmed. All northbound lanes were briefly closed, and traffic was diverted at Palm Bay Road. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
