Titusville Mayor Backs Acting Police Chief

The mayor of Titusville says he has confidence in the city’s acting police chief following the firing of the former chief after a rollover crash and refusal to take a drug test required by city policy. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.

South Only Region to Gain Children, Census Finds

New U.S. Census estimates show the South was the nation’s only region to gain population under age 18 between 2020 and 2025. The report also found the country’s median age continued to rise, reaching 39.4 years as the U.S. population grows older.

DeSantis Signs New Budget

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a $117.6 billion state budget for the new fiscal year after nearly $810 million in line-item vetoes. The spending plan marks the fourth straight year of reduced state spending while continuing funding for education, transportation, public safety and environmental projects.

Delta Adds Weekend Flights Between Melbourne and New York

Delta Air Lines will begin seasonal weekend nonstop service between Melbourne Orlando International Airport and New York’s LaGuardia Airport starting December 19th. Flights will operate Saturdays and Sundays through May 2nd, 2027, giving Space Coast travelers another direct link to New York while providing convenient access for cruise passengers traveling through Port Canaveral.

Astronauts Set for Space Station Spacewalk

Two NASA astronauts are scheduled to venture outside the International Space Station this morning to replace a malfunctioning wrist joint on the Canadarm2 robotic arm. The spacewalk by Chris Williams and Jessica Meir is expected to last about six-and-a-half hours and marks their second spacewalk together.
