Saharan Dust To Bring Hazy Skies and Hotter Weather
A huge plume of Saharan dust is expected to reach Central Florida late today, bringing hazy skies, fewer afternoon storms and even hotter temperatures into the weekend. Forecasters say the dust could also create colorful sunrises and sunsets while limiting tropical development.

A Volusia County Public Works employee was airlifted to a hospital after equipment struck an energized power line Wednesday in Edgewater, sparking a fire. A second worker was also involved but was not reported injured. The injured worker’s condition has not been updated.

The Florida Supreme Court has lifted a stay of execution for former police officer James Duckett, clearing the way for his death sentence to move forward. Duckett was convicted in the 1987 murder of 11 year old Teresa McAbee. The court said recent DNA testing produced inconclusive results.
