Central Florida Heat Builds Before Weekend Storms
Central Florida will remain mostly dry through Friday, with afternoon highs reaching the middle to upper 90s and heat index readings above 100. Rain chances increase to about 40 to 50 percent this weekend as scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms return and continue into next week.

A 16 year old girl was airlifted to an Orlando hospital after being struck by a train Wednesday in New Smyrna Beach. Police say the crash happened near the tracks at Eleanor Avenue and appears to have been accidental. The girl reportedly suffered serious injuries.

Investigators say the suspects posed as federal agents and sheriff’s deputies during a planned robbery. 25 year old Matthew Nicol was restrained and fatally shot inside the East Hall Road home.
