Accused Carjacker Reaches 137 Miles Per Hour in Volusia County Pursuit

Authorities say 41 year old Scott Taylor led police on a high-speed pursuit through Volusia County after carjacking an elderly woman near Destination Daytona. Deputies say Taylor reached 137 miles per hour, drove into oncoming traffic and later crashed on State Road 44 before being arrested. No serious injuries were reported.

Strong Storms Damage Homes in Cocoa

Strong storms damaged homes, toppled trees and knocked down power lines in Cocoa Thursday. Winds were estimated at 50 to 60 miles per hour, scattering roofing materials and tree limbs across neighborhoods. No injuries were reported, and cleanup continued into last evening.

Woman Jailed After Cape Canaveral Strip Mall Fire

A woman is jailed after allegedly setting papers on fire behind a Cape Canaveral strip mall along State Road A1A. Deputies say Cassandra Brennan intentionally burned drawings and then left. A nearby business owner quickly put out the fire before it spread. Brennan now faces a criminal mischief charge.

Brevard Deputy of the Year Resigns After Misconduct Investigation

Brevard County’s 2025 Deputy of the Year, 24 year old Michael Fultz, has resigned after an internal investigation found multiple policy violations. Records show Fultz improperly accessed a license plate reader system, failed to report traffic stops and acknowledged other misconduct. Sheriff Wayne Ivey had planned to fire him.

SpaceX Scrubs Starlink Launch With 28 Seconds Left

SpaceX scrubbed a Falcon 9 launch Thursday at Cape Canaveral with just 28 seconds remaining in the countdown. The rocket was scheduled to carry 29 Starlink satellites into orbit. SpaceX has not announced a reason for the abort. Another launch attempt is planned for today, with a window opening at 11:14am and running until 2:57pm.

Bowen Aquarium Lease Still Unresolved Ahead of Groundbreaking

Plans for the 140 million dollar Bowen Aquarium at Port Canaveral remain on track for a December groundbreaking, but a key lease agreement has not been finalized. Brevard Zoo officials say the lease is needed to secure financing. The 14-acre aquarium is expected to take two to three years to build.
