Lightning Strike Sends Tree Shards Into Rockledge Home
A Rockledge man luckily escaped injury when lightning struck a 70-foot pine tree on his property, sending large pieces through his home. Curtis Romohr said he and his roommate were away when a 30-pound log crashed through a window and destroyed the spot where he usually sits and watches storms.

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring two Atlantic systems, but they now have confirmed that neither one currently threatens Central Florida. A system near the Cabo Verde Islands has a 70 percent chance of becoming a tropical depression. Another northeast of Bermuda has a 20 percent development chance.

Three adults were killed Tuesday morning when a car left Interstate 95 in Palm Bay, struck a tree and caught fire. The crash happened near mile marker 172, south of State Road 514. The victims have not been identified. Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.

Attorneys for 16 year old Timothy Hudson of Titusville are seeking to delay his September trial. Hudson is accused of sexually assaulting and killing his 18 year old stepsister, Anna Kepner, aboard a Carnival cruise ship last November. Prosecutors do not oppose the delay.

SpaceX says Tuesday’s Starlink mission was the final one aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from Florida. The company says future Florida Starlink missions will use its larger Starship rocket, while Falcon 9 launches continue from California. Falcon 9 carried out more than 260 Starlink missions from the Space Coast.
