Barefoot Bay Woman Killed Crossing US 1

A 55 year old Barefoot Bay woman was killed Thursday morning while crossing U.S. 1 at Barefoot Boulevard. Troopers say a car driven by a 68 year old Palm Bay man struck her in a crosswalk. The incident remains under investigation.

Tropical Storm Dolly Forms in Atlantic

Tropical Storm Dolly has formed about 1,300 miles east of the Leeward Islands with 40-mile-per-hour winds. Forecasters expect Dolly to be short-lived with no impact to Florida. Heavy rain could reach the Leeward Islands this weekend, followed by Puerto Rico and Hispaniola.

Launch Credit Union Members Approve Merger

Launch Credit Union members have approved a merger with Suncoast Credit Union, with nearly 80 percent voting in favor. The merger takes effect September 1 under the Suncoast name. Launch members will see no immediate account or service changes, and no branches will close.

Arrest Made in Deadly Brevard Hit-and-Run

40 year old Nickalas Ray Davis of Mims faces charges in a 2025 Brevard County hit-and-run that killed a motorcyclist. Troopers say Davis rear-ended the 61 year old victim on U.S. 1 near Orbiter Court and fled. He was arrested this week in Putnam County.

Falcon Heavy Launch Planned Sunday

SpaceX is targeting Sunday morning for a rare Falcon Heavy launch from Kennedy Space Center. The 20-minute launch window opens at 7:26am. The rocket will carry NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, which will study dark energy, galaxy formation and distant planets.
