Boy Killed in Mims Dirt Bike Crash

An 11 year old boy is dead and another 11 year old boy is in critical condition after a dirt bike collided with a car in Mims. The Florida Highway Patrol says the bike entered the path of the vehicle from the East Coast Regional Trail. The crash remains under investigation.

Brevard Sheriff’s Office Welcomes New Deputies

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has graduated its newest academy class and sworn in two additional deputies who completed Florida’s law enforcement equivalency training. Sheriff Wayne Ivey says the recruits are now ready to begin serving and protecting communities across Brevard County.

Florida Supreme Court Clears Way for Execution

The Florida Supreme Court has lifted a stay of execution for former police officer James Duckett, clearing the way for his death sentence to move forward. Duckett was convicted in the 1987 murder of 11 year old Teresa McAbee. The court said recent DNA testing produced inconclusive results.

Public Works Employee Airlifted After Electrical Accident

A Volusia County Public Works employee was airlifted to a hospital after equipment struck an energized power line Wednesday in Edgewater, sparking a fire. A second worker was also involved but was not reported injured. The injured worker’s condition has not been updated.
